Giving Land Away?
In the olden days, all you needed to do to get some land would be to sit on the land and call it yours. As time went on, the same rule applied, though you needed to have a gun in order to give others an incentive to find their own dang piece of land. Today, all you need to do is to ask the government or the land owner for a piece. Now, that doesn’t mean that you will get the land or that you won’t have to pay for it, but you can still get land…for a price.
With land grants, you will be able to get the land that you might want or need for free. However, you will need to prove that you’re going to be using this land for a good reason. The government doesn’t part with land that easily. If you can prove that you’re going to use the unused land for something valuable, you’re going to have a much easier time getting that land deed signed over to you.
Getting the Land You Need
The government does offer some programs in which you can get a land grant, which means you don’t need to pay for the land at all. All you need to do is to prove you’re going to use it. With some land simply going to waste, it seems that these free pieces of land are an opportunity for you to leave your mark on the world. In your state, you might want to talk to your local government to see if there are any land grants available. You might have to choose from the pieces of land that are available instead of choosing the land that you want to buy.
Free land? Sure. Easy? Heck no. But you can get land grants, with a little leg work, well, computer work.
